Who we are

mi.am is an independent price-comparison website for Xiaomi ecosystem products. We are the data controller for the processing described here. For any privacy question or request, contact us via the details on our contact page.

What we collect

Data collected automatically

• Usage data — pages viewed, referring page, approximate location (country/city derived from IP), device and browser type. Collected through Google Analytics (see below).
• Country detection — we read your approximate country (from your IP address or your browser's language settings) to show prices in your currency and offers available in your region. This happens on our server and is not stored against any profile.
• Outbound click logs — when you click a "View deal" button we record that a click happened for that product and marketplace, with a timestamp. This log contains no name, email or account identifier; we use it to understand which deals are useful and to reconcile affiliate reporting.

Data you give us

The only personal data you can give us directly is what you include when you email us (your email address and message). We use it solely to reply, and we don't add you to any mailing list.

We have no user accounts, no newsletter and no comment system, and we never ask for payment details.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses cookies and similar technologies from the following services:

• Google Analytics — helps us understand how the site is used (which pages are popular, where visitors come from). IP addresses are processed by Google to derive approximate location.
• Google AdSense — we display ads served by Google. Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Third-party vendors' use of advertising cookies enables them and their partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and/or other sites; you can opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
• Affiliate networks — when you click through to a store (Amazon, AliExpress, Awin/Xiaomi), that store or its affiliate network may set cookies on their domain to attribute your purchase to our referral. Those cookies are governed by the respective store's privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works without them (prices and products display normally).

Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for server logs, region detection and anonymous click counting.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the processors named above (Google for analytics and advertising; affiliate networks receive the click, not your identity). We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.

Retention

Analytics data follows Google Analytics' standard retention controls. Our own click logs are anonymous and kept only as long as needed for reporting. Emails you send us are deleted once the matter is resolved.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR in the EU/UK or CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Since we hold almost no personal data, the most common request — deletion of correspondence — is handled by a single email to us. Use the contact page to exercise any right.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on this page for at least 30 days.
